Senior Backend Engineer (Go/Rust)
Build scalable, high-performance backend services for our AI platform. Experience with distributed systems required.
About the Role
Our platform services handle millions of API requests daily: auth tokens, streaming completions, billing meters, webhooks, and agent fleet dispatch. You will build and scale our core microservices in Go and Rust.
Hanzo builds an open AI cloud — compilers, models, distributed infrastructure, and agent tooling. Our codebases are predominantly open source, and team members operate with high autonomy and end-to-end ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain high-throughput HTTP/gRPC backend microservices.
Scale our distributed datastores (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, S3-compatible storage).
Build robust streaming pipelines for SSE completions, telemetry, and event buses.
Ensure high reliability, 99.99% uptime, zero-downtime deployments, and end-to-end security.
What We're Looking For
Extensive experience building distributed systems in Go and/or Rust.
Solid knowledge of database internals, indexing, distributed transactions, and caching.
Experience with Kubernetes, Linux systems internals, network socket programming, and eBPF/monitoring.
High standards for code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and post-incident reviews.
Nice to Have
Experience building payment, subscription, or billing metering systems at scale.
Experience with message brokers (Kafka, NATS) and event-driven architectures.
